GTO needs new wheels. I have plenty of time to find some since my Goodyear Eagle’s are probably going to last another year or so. The stock wheel and tire size is a 17x8 with a 245/45/17 and a 48mm offset. 5X120 hub pattern
The front is VERY tight against the suspension. The bottom of the strut is about a fingertip’s width from the top of the tire and overlaps a good 1.5 inches. At full lock the edge of the tire rubs on the fender liner.
So I have to be careful with my sizes and offset. I’m planning on a nice set of adjustable coilovers so I will be lowering a little bit.
What I want to avoid -
Everyone with a GTO either runs these or BBS Style 5 replicas. It’s like everyone putting Bullet style wheels on their S197. I don’t want to look like everyone else and I really only like the Style 5 mesh on BMW.
What I’m considering -
I’m thinking these - TSW Bristol
Staggered in a 17x8 with a higher offset and a 245/45/17 with a 18x9.5 and a 275/40/18 in the rear. Goal is flush fitment with wheels that don’t suck.
Also considering - TSW Mirabeau
These would be a 18 in the front and a 19 in the rear. Still not sure about those.
What I want -
Volk TE-37SL Black Edition
OR
HRE Classic 305 3 piece forged in Gloss Charcoal - somewhere between $1400-$1800 a wheel...

Funny, I’ve always liked the CSL style wheel on the GTO but I feel the need to stand out. I think a classic 5 spoke design always fits American muscle cars and while those HRE 305's look sick, that’s a pretty freaking penny. The Volk LE37's (Josh has those on his 3-series) are light as all hell but way overkill if you never drive competitively.
Also, when you’re looking at wheels online be away of your vehicle’s offsets. The HRE’s you pictured have a very low, maybe even negative offset and those same wheels for your car won’t look remotely similar.
I’d personally lean toward a thick 5-spoke design with as much concavity as possible. The TSW Bristol maybe or how about the 2010 Camaro wheels? They look good and I bet they’re cheap.

hm...Volk TE-37's on a GTO...

Those Mirabeaus looks incredibly ricer. And I’m not sure the TE’s would look very good on the GTO. They’re typically a Japanese style.
How about these? Keeping it in the family, though you’d probably want new center caps. I think the tire is a slightly different size, so you’d need to take that into consideration.

These would also be cool, but fitment would still be an issue.

Yeah, I’ve got some pretty handy online tools to match offsets. Concave is the name of the game I think. I’m leaning towards the TSW Bristol.

TE-37 ALL THE THINGS.
Seriously, it is my favorite wheel.

Fikse FM5?
Nice, study, race-oriented look.
Or the Fikse Mag?

That’s the issue, fitment. The Corvette wheels fit the hub but width and offset is hard to fit to the GTO. The front suspension is very tight. The coilovers will help make some room.
Also, I kinda like being weird so if I could find TE-37's that fit and were affordable, I would put them on there and it would be glorious.

Oooh what is that first 5 spoke TSW? I like that.

I like the FM5. Never considered Fikse.

You could also do spacers, but then you'd need to roll the fenders.

If you have a Forza Motorsport 3 or later game, then you can equip those exact wheels (FM5, FM5S, and FM10) on a ‘05 GTO that looks like yours (no ram air, single-exit exhaust).

I do....Hmm. Gonna go investigate the HSV and Holden wheel options.

I’m planning on rolling the inside lips. I’d rather not pull the fenders though.

you looked at the dirt track style wagon wheel, or d hole stock car look?

No, but the D-hole stock car look could be interesting.

The new Gen-F R8 HSV wheels (1st black ones) I want so badly!!!
![]() 01/29/2016 at 19:56 |

they make them in a few colors, chrome, black, gold, silver. and an agressive offset can make them look real mean. i think most of the track stuff runs 60 or 70 dollars each.

You know any brands? Finding something in a 5x120 and a 17-18 inch diameter is hard apparently.

its the 17 and 18 inch thats hard.
i cheated, and converted mm to inch. which comes out to 4.72 inch, and that made for a few more options, but like you said 17 and 18. thats hard.
